 This amazing girl has been my best friend since day 1 because of Brenda’s commitment as a breeder and dog-owner.  Hi Brenda Hope you and your son are doing well! Just wanted to let you know Rebel has an appointment to get neutered on March 19th. I'll let you know how everything goes. :) Rebel is huge now, and too smart for his own good. He certainly lives up to his name. No food is safe unless its locked up. He can open the garbage can and the fridge, and has figured out how to jump multiple gates in his attempt to find a snack in the kitchen. He has a few small scars around his nose now too. It still hasnt been enough to get him to stop chasing our cranky cat Charlie. But he is also the sweetest boy ever. He lays down with each of the kids when it is their bedtime. He spends the night curled up by my side of the bed. And He follows me room from room and cries the whole time I'm in the shower. (That's where he gets his baths and he doesnt want his momma to suffer like he does haha). He sits and rolls over and gives high fives. He destroys every toy we can find, except for the one little lamb we had with us in the truck when we brought him home. That's his favorite and he is always very gentle with it. Best wishes!  I usually do not do reviews or testimonials,but to not do one in this case would be a serious and grave injustice to Brenda Bailey and the extreme dedication and hard work not to mention overall love and devotion she has for her dogs at Coastal Roots German Shepherds in Giants Lake, Nova Scotia. My search for a German Shepherd began just under a year ago, with a small break in there for the untimely passing of a family member.Now my idea of the perfect shepherd is what people these days call "old fashioned shepherds", and thats dogs with big bones,great colors and lines,a straight back and of course the perfect temperment.After looking at numerous dogs and puppies as well as meeting and talking to many breeders and people where there was always 1 or 2 things and in some cases more, that just did not entice me or give me the feeling I needed to get the puppy.My search continued and I came across an ad on kijiji where she showed pics of the adult dogs not the puppies, .The ad gave me her website to which is a very impressive and well put together site with an abundance of pictures and information on it, not just the usual pictures of puppies and prices like on other sites. My initial contact with Brenda was inquiring about a male puppy, and begin the extensive list of questions and requirements that I require in purchasing a puppy.Our conversation was very lengthy and many questions and answers were both asked and answered by the both of us.She informed me that at the moment there were no pups available but explained her planned breeding schedule for this year. Our conversation continued and she told me of a 9 month old female pup that was going to be a keeper but due to un-planned and unforseen circumstances could possibly be available,at this point I told her about the rest of my dogs,especially my very high energy white standard poodle, "Casper", along with 16 year old Duncan, a labradoodle and Riley, a 14 year old shih tzu.I told her my initial reason for another dog was I wanted a playmate for Casper, as I strongly believe that dogs do better in pairs or groups,(they are pack animals).The conversation continued and she sent pics of the dog to which I immediately knew I wanted,I immediately told her that I would like to have this little girl named "Jazz" if I could, knowing she would not only be a perfect companion for Casper, but fulfill my wish of having the GSD of my dreams that because of various circumstances, I was never able to have. Well I will honestly say that Brenda telling me I could have Jazz made me the happiest I've been in a long long time.So plans were made for meet and pick up and during that time Brenda shared a vast amount of pictures and info with me which of course made me all the more excited and happy. So it was set and Casper and I were off to meet Jazz, now I must say the meet went pretty much as I expected, and in saying that I must add it went perfect, Jazz barked for approx 1 hour but after some treats and talking she warmed to me and started to play with Casper as well,all was fine,when she was barking I sensed Brenda might think I would change my mind but I told her that if Jazz didn't react that way to a stranger and strange dog in her house I would of been surprised. So with that Brenda and I talked some more about various things and she showed me the very impressive pedigrees and bloodlines for the dogs, which of course I will be very proud to add to my wall, and we concluded our business.So with a 2 and a half hour drive, and evening approaching and possibility of tricky weather I loaded the dogs and turned to say goodbye to Brenda,(quick note:anyone who questions the love Brenda has for her dogs........should of been there that day), but she assured me she was happy that Jazz was going to a loving home with other fur-kids and a loving dad that knows about dogs,with that said I was off.Now for a dog that barked for an hour she was an angel in the truck,not a peep,in a strange vehicle with a stranger and strange dog , this perfect little girl said nothing the whole trip.I will admit that arriving home would be a little anxious as I wondered how she would get along with Duncan and Riley but she quickly put my mind at ease,we walked in they all did the dog sniff greeting and all was fine,oh and it took 2 days before she made any noise. Over the next couple of days her most redeeming quality became even more evident,and that is her temperment,Jazz is an absolute sweetheart and is smart beyond belief, as is evident in the way she knows and accepts that Duncan is the alpha dog in house and treats him with the respect he deserves,she also knows who is the overall alpha of her new pack which has made this transfer an absolute dream,it couldn't of gone better or easier. I have to now thank you Brenda from the bottom of my heart, because the gift that you gave me has made me so extremely happy.I still sit here and can't believe she's here,and she's mine, and that she is so perfect, again I can never fully express how thankful I am. On a closing note, and strictly but firmly and I'll stand behind it 100 percent, my opinion of getting a dog from you Brenda was a most enjoyable, satisfying and easy thing to do.In my search I can honestly say that I seen no dogs that looked better, had the pedigrees yours have,the bloodlines and not to mention you, your knowledge,dedication and love you have for your dogs made this a truly enjoyable experience, and I don't believe a person looking for a world class german shepherd could find a more beautiful well balanced dog with a great temperment, not to mention a truly great breeder/person than you and your dogs.They might find one thats equal, but I believe would be hard pressed to find one better.  September 2018, I was entering my last year of university and figured I should reward myself at the end of it. That led me to Brenda and her gorgeous group of German Shepherds. After talking to Brenda and realizing her love for her dogs, I knew she was a great loving owner and I couldn't wait to get a puppy from her. This puppy , Kyra and her mother Utah , mother daughter pair can grow and enjoy retirement on a large Dairy Farm in New Brunswick. Both dogs are so smart, fun, playful and sweet.  Hi Brenda! Hope all is well with you and your son, and the gang! Just a couple of photos to celebrate Rebel's first birthday. Cant believe he's a year old already! A little bit about his personality now. He likes being as close as possible to his people. He likes to bark at other dogs, but is very friendly, just loud! He loves to destroy his toys, though he still has his stuffed lamb he came home with and is very gentle with that one! He loves to go for drives, run outside in the woods, and to chase our fat cat Charlie around the house. He loves to snuggle( though he is really bad at it, you'll understand when you look at the pictures haha ). He doesn't like the vacuum, or being left at home alone without his people. He's still not very good at walking on a leash,he would be rather be off leash and stick close by. He gets very jealous of his people, even with his brother Rex. He tries to push in between so he can get all the love instead He doesn't like to get wet and would he would rather lie in the shade than be out in the sunshine. He is such a good boy even if he is a bit of a spazz. We are so very happy to have him, and love him even more now than we did when he came home.  On March 12th,2018 Ace came into this world. He was the only male puppy out of the litter. The day we went to pick him up, he was outside in the pen with the other puppies, he looked right up at us and at that moment we knew he was the one. We were very lucky to have found Brenda Bailey, our breeder. She gave us a lot of good advice, and still does. Smart and friendly , well aware of what she is doing with her dogs. Would highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for a purebred German Shepherd puppy. Ace was very well taken care of while he was in her care. He is a joy to be around, and is so full of energy and love. He absolutely loves the woods and to run and be chased after. Rocks are his favorite thing to play with, he likes to chase them. Vanilla Ice Cream is his favorite food :). He loves the car, and always wants to get his own way. But he knows, who the boss is most of the time lol. He is a very happy and healthy boy with lots and lots of energy. We are so pleased that he has come into our lives, he brings us so much joy and love :).  Brenda has a heart of gold in caring for her puppies and her German Shepherds. Our Shepherd is a beautiful, intelligent and very sociable pup with people and adaptable with our six year old miniature poodle. Brenda kept us updated weekly with videos and photos of the development of the puppies! We couldn't be more happier with our Frankie! Frankie is so smart- excellent eye contact. I'm finding training her is a pleasure. She's understanding so many words, I'm consistent using the same ones. It's so fun watching the two play together, Frankie can catch up to Georgia now!  if Brenda had a star rating from 1-5, she would be given a 6 from us. We decided in February 2019 we wanted to welcome a furry friend into our home. In April of that year we started seeking out German Shepherd breeders. Brenda was the second we were in contact with. I found her website helpful and from her very first email we knew she was a Rock star. Brenda had a strict but very reasonable purchaser selection process, which proved to me she heavily cared about where her puppies were going.After only a few days of being in contact with her, we knew she would be the breeder where we would be getting our new family member. It was evident that Brenda is very passionate about what she does. We waited almost a year for our boy and during that time Brenda and I chatted almost everyday. It was inspiring how highly she spoke of her dogs and previous purchasers. I loved getting photos and updates; she is very informative with her purchasers. Finally in January 2020 our boy was ready to be picked up and taken home. We drove from Newfoundland, 14 hours with a 8 hour ferry ride to get him (one way) and he is nothing less then perfect. On our journey to get our boy , there was a snow storm on our tails. Brenda was very accommodating with changing the pick up time of our boy, which meant a lot to us. Bellamy is an intelligent, loyal, handsome pup who is too smart for his own good! We have heard nothing but positive feedback from our friends, family and the public on how good Bellamy is. Brenda was very supportive with lots of advice from the time we first were in touch, and continues to do so. If we were ever to get another German Shepherd, we will 100 % return to Brenda. He's so well behaved and such a good dog.He loves us too. He loves the kids so much. He is very happy and has lots of other dog friends, they come over daily to ask him to come out and play. It's the most sweetest thing ever! He has a great life-we have lots of fun each day. We love him and thank his parents for creating such a beautiful pup.  So... I have a problem. This puppy you sold me is defective. Are you sure she's a purebred? Because I think she's part human or something!!!!! Caitlin and I didn't want to be woken up at 2am especially cause my alarm goes off at 4, so Kyra and Utah could go bark outside (gotta guard the house, don't even have to pee lol !!) So we put Kyra and Utah in the porch over night. We go to bed and about 5 minutes later.... Kyra and Utah show up beside the bed! What! Kyra can turn freaking doorknobs now!!! She's always been able to do door handles, but now she can do door knobs!!! If I want to lock her in a room I'll need baby locks !!! lol She's to smart and spoiled for her own good!  My husband and I have had German Shepherds in our family for decades, we absolutely love this breed for their looks, their intelligence, loyalty and affection. When we were ready to get a new German Shepherd puppy this year we were so happy to find Brenda as our breeder. She calls herself Gramma Bailey, and for good reason: her puppies, and the lucky adoptive parents who get to take them home, feel like family . Brenda is extremely caring, friendly, kind and knowledgeable. I love talking to her and sharing pictures and videos of our beautiful puppy Cora. Cora makes our family so happy everyday ! Whether we are going outside for walks in the woods near our house or if we are just hanging out around the house playing rope or ball, our children (ages 11, 14, and 19) and all the adults have so much fun! My husband ( who is from Germany and who got our first German Shepherd from a breeder while in Germany) says that our girl Cora is a true 100 percent German Shepherd Dog!  On June 1st. we got the message that our baby boy was born, and after waiting 21 years of waiting my dream of owning a German Shepherd pup became true ! Dealing with Brenda was very easy and very consistent, she sent weekly photos and videos and kept us updated on the health and well being of the pups. We got our boy Loki on July 24th and we could not be more happy with him. He is so smart, handsome and very playful.  Getting a puppy from Coastal Roots German Shepherds has been a positive experience right from the beginning. From the moment we found out that our puppy was born we began receiving photos and videos, updating us on the health and well-being of our new baby.  What can I say, what an absolute pleasure of an experience to purchase one of a Coastal Roots puppy! Brenda is a pleasure to deal with and very responsive, she provides updates, pictures/videos from the birth of your puppy right up until you bring your little one home. She has also been a great help after bringing the little one home. Keeping up with how things are progressing and there to answer any questions you may have. The puppies are absolutely beautiful! Coastal Roots breeds some of the most beautiful German Shepherds I have ever seen. I could of gotten a puppy sooner from other locations but I HAD TO HAVE ONE OF HERS! The pictures on her website are great but do not do justice to the colors that are in the coats of the dogs. If I ever by another German Shepherd puppy I will be reaching out to Coastal Roots again!  If you been looking for an intelligent, loyal and beautiful canine companion- look no further. Brenda's German Shepherds are exceptional dogs in all of those categories and more. When folks meet our Cassie, they are often impressed by how well behaved and attentive she is for a pup(after saying "she's so pretty!'' of course.) Cassie was housebroken within the first month of being in our home, and knows many tricks already at not even 18 weeks old. She has been walking with me without a leash in wooded trails with absolutely no issues, always following closely and responding quickly if I holler or whistle when she wanders off a bit. German Shepherds are known to be smart, but Brenda's genetic line is second to none in producing top quality dogs! As for dealing with Brenda and the transaction itself- as others have said, you know Brenda loves the dogs like family within the first few interactions with her. She puts you through an application process that is more highly scrutinized than most job applications, and for that I would give 6 stars If I could. It shows how much she cares for the animals and only wants them to go to good homes. she is not just trying to sell you a puppy, she is more concerned with placing the dogs in a loving environment where they will thrive.  Our gorgeous puppy Forrest is from Coastal Roots German Shepherds. From the moment Brenda approved us as a family for one of her puppies she kept in contact with updates. We were sent videos and photos during the pregnancy and puppyhood until we were finally able to bring our boy home. Forrest is smart, calm and loyal Forrest accompanies me to work at the long-term care home I'm employed at.. The residents love him and he is so gentle with them. Everyone comments on what a beautiful puppy he is and how big he's going to be. Brenda genuinely cares about about the well being of her puppies and is always there if I have questions about anything , I recently lost my 12 year old Shepherd shortly after Forrest came home and he has brought me a great deal of comfort and helped me in my healing . Brenda was also very supportive during my loss and checked in on me to see how I was doing. She loves to receive photos and videos of her pups and her pride for this breed is undeniable.
